Associate Dean

Jiny Jose serves as the Associate Dean and Program Lead for Early Childhood Education and Professional Experience at LIHE. With over 20 years of experience in the education sector, Jiny has developed extensive expertise in teaching, academic leadership, curriculum development, and professional practice. With a strong foundation in early childhood pedagogy, Jiny has dedicated her career to supporting the development of high-quality teaching practices and meaningful learning experiences.
Throughout her career, she has played a key role in designing and leading professional experience programs that bridge theory and practice, ensuring that emerging educators are well prepared for the realities of the classroom. Her work is driven by a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development.
Jiny is known for her collaborative leadership style, deep understanding of early learning frameworks, and passion for empowering educators to make a lasting impact in children’s lives.

Dr Aqua Hastings

Program Lead – Bachelor of Community Services

Dr Aqua Hastings is an academic, researcher, and frontline practitioner with extensive experience working alongside diverse communities across metropolitan, rural, and remote regions of Australia. Throughout her career, she has combined academic excellence with practical expertise, delivering effective learning to students, which is grounded in experiences from the field. She has consistently attained the highest student satisfaction results in SELT surveys, reflecting strong student engagement and teaching effectiveness. Her teaching has included community services, complementary medicine, counselling, sociology, and global health, reflecting her multidisciplinary approach to education and student development.
Dr Aqua Hastings’ research focuses on exploring social, cultural and health issues, particularly around access difficulties, inequality, exclusion and disadvantage. Her areas of interest include reducing health inequalities through non-medical models of care, alternative approaches to trauma management, and innovative recovery models for addiction.
With a focus on social justice and community wellbeing, she is committed to fostering critical thinking, compassionate practice, and meaningful change through both her teaching and research. Her teaching and practice is person-centred, holistic and evidence-based, and her personal aim is to support every student to success.
